Title: Empowering Students through Esports: CSR Program for Schools

Introduction:

In today’s digital age, esports has emerged as a vibrant platform that not only entertains but also fosters teamwork, critical thinking, and strategic planning. Recognizing the potential of esports to enhance students’ skills, GenBijakdotMy (GBDM) in associate with GenBijakESports, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, proposes an Esports Tournament for students in various schools under Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri (JPN) Kedah, Perak and Johor. This innovative program aims to provide students with a unique avenue to learn and grow while promoting values of sportsmanship and collaboration.

 

Program Objectives:

The Esports Tournament for students is designed with the following objectives in mind:

  1. Skill Development: Encourage students to cultivate skills in teamwork, communication, strategic thinking, and problem-solving through competitive esports.
  2. Inclusivity: Provide a platform that welcomes students of diverse backgrounds, interests, and skill levels, fostering a sense of belonging and unity.
  3. Digital Citizenship: Educate students about responsible gaming, online etiquette, and the importance of balancing screen time with other activities.
  4. Leadership and Organization: Offer opportunities for students to take on leadership roles, such as team captains, organizers, and event coordinators, enhancing their organizational and leadership skills.
  5. Sportsmanship: Instill values of fair play, respect, and empathy among participants, promoting a positive gaming environment.

 

Program Structure:

The Esports Tournament will be organized in collaboration with partner JPN and will consist of the following key components:

  1. Game Selection: A MOBA esports games will be chosen to cater to different interests and skill levels, ensuring widespread participation.
  2. Teams Formation: Students will have the opportunity to form teams with their peers, promoting collaboration and team dynamics.
  3. Specific Requirements: Each teams must be be manage by a teacher from their same school (as the manager). All the participants must also get the consent from both their parents prior to joining the tournaments.
  4. Qualifiers and Elimination Rounds: The tournament will feature multiple rounds, including qualifiers and elimination matches, leading to a thrilling crescendo.
  5. Educational Modules: Between matches, short educational modules on responsible gaming, cyber safety, and digital ethics will be integrated to promote holistic development.
  6. Grand Finale: The tournament will culminate in a grand finale event, where the top teams will compete for the championship title.
  7. Recognition and Prizes: Prizes will be awarded not only to the winners but also to teams demonstrating exceptional sportsmanship and teamwork.
  8. Feedback and Evaluation: After the tournament, participants will have the chance to provide feedback, helping improve future iterations of the program.

The Esports Tournament is called #GES Generasi Esukan Sekolah and the programs is in its fourth years running which began in 2020 during the pandemic. Refer to the attachment below.
